So much to do, so little time and only a shoestring budget to do it with

So you want to travel the world, but you’ve got a shoestring budget and only a few weeks off work each year? Me, too. Between a healthy mortgage, a menagerie of rescue pets, and a job I enjoy, I simply can’t commit to more than a week or two away at a time. But I’m desperate to travel. It’s just about all I think about, all the time. Well, travel and trends. I like to look good, too.

A few times each year, I love being as far away from home as possible in some place I’ve never been before, and I prefer to do it in the lap of luxury. Few things in life make me happier than visiting new places and learning about different cultures. But travel planning on a shoestring budget can be hard work, especially if you like luxury and don’t have a lot of spare time to look for the best deals.

My goal: go someplace that requires airplane travel at least once every three to four months. My challenge: I have a budget of less than $5,000 per year and only 4 weeks vacation time annually. Somehow, I’ve managed to make this work for me. In fact, I’ve dedicated every minute of my free time over the past decade to perfecting this pursuit. Now, I want to bring all of my tips and tricks to you.

I’m all about staying in five-star hotels at three-star prices, buying $300 dresses for $65, and seeing as much of the world as I can in as little time as possible. Sound good? Stick with me, and I’ll show you how to make it happen with your shoestring budget.

Meet Heather C. HudakHeather C. Hudak

Growing up, my parents made it a point to take me on an adventure each summer. We traveled throughout most of the United States and parts of Canada. As an only child, I would spend long days sprawled across the backseat of the car doing my best not to ask, “Are we there yet?” And I loved every minute of it.

In my early twenties, I decided to extend my travels beyond North America, and I’ve never looked back. Now, I’ve traveled to more than 50 countries throughout much of Europe, as well as parts of South America, Africa, and Asia. Sometimes I travel solo. Other times, I’m with my mom, husband, or BFF. No matter who I’m with, we always travel in style, and we always pack in as much as we can. I’m all about getting the most for my money.

Wanderlust Wayfarer is a culmination of my two loves: travel and writing. As a professional writer, editor, and marketer, I love sharing my experiences with the world. And my hope is that I can help others fulfill their wanderlust dreams.
